For some people, hearing the word “homework” may conjure up negative memories. Did you know when you are considering a hair change you also have homework? Thankfully this kind of homework mostly involves scrolling through Pinterest® and picking out your favorite styles! In any case, if you are ready for a fresh look, follow these 3 tips!

1. Show and Tell: It is no surprise that bringing photos to show your stylist is a great idea! Spend some time beforehand finding pictures that best express the style or color you are looking for. Believe it or not, it can even help to show and tell your stylist what you do not like. Your stylist will go through a short series of questions about length, layers, body, movement, type of cut (e.g. blunt cut). Take this opportunity to be as clear and concise as you can. If you are still unsure about expressing your vision, not to fear, your stylist will work with you to fill in the missing pieces. After successfully gathering all the information, your stylist will be equipped to shape the perfect cut and color for you!

2. Self-evaluation: How much maintenance are you realistically committed to performing? Think about how much your potential style with take each day to maintain. In addition, a shorter hair style may require more haircut appointments than you are accustomed to. For example, if you are traditionally an 8-10 weeks type of scheduler, will your new hairdo require haircuts every 4-6 weeks? Take your time and budget into account before the shears work their magic. It is always a great idea to have a quick consultation with your stylist. They are happy to answer all your questions and eager to help you figure out what works best for you!

Tip #3- Color correction appointments: Have you ever had a bad box dye or less than stellar color experience? Or maybe you wanted “Emma Stone red,” but ended up with fire engine red. Either way, if you need a change here is your game plan! Schedule a consultation with your stylist or let the receptionist know the situation so they can arrange some extra time. It may take several attempts to return your hair to the desired color. A consultation will give the stylist a chance to visually assess the situation and tailor a plan that suits you. They will tell you approximately how how long it will take (including how many hours or even visits) and what it will cost.

Again, the more information you acquire ahead of time, the smoother the transition process!
